Antwan Brown is a Family man, Mentor, Veteran, Educator, and Advocate with a passion for politics and a heart for people. A Washington DC native, Antwan works tirelessly to be a “man of the people” and support his community. Moving to PG County and graduating from Forestville High School, Antwan is not foreign to the challenges associated with issues of neighborhood quality and affordability, teenage fatherhood, and being raised in a single-parent household.
Despite multiple factors against him, Antwan graduated from Livingstone College in 2002, where he received his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Computer Information Systems. While there, Antwan served in multiple leadership roles, along with being an active parent, raising his son during his time as a student. He later advanced his education at Webster University, where he obtained his Masters of Arts in Management and Leadership in 2011. Currently, Antwan is working to obtain his Doctorate of Social Work from the University of Southern California, where he is expecting to graduate in December 2021.
Antwan maintained a posture of leadership and service when he joined the U.S. Army, shortly after graduating from Livingstone College. While in service, Antwan became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity incorporated, to which he continues to serve as an active member. Additionally, with the developed understanding of the importance of mentorship, Antwan established a mentoring program for younger soldiers adapting to military life and culture. He was honorably discharged in 2005.
Committed to serving the community and the advancing of people, Antwan has served as a youth volunteer, school and recreation center athletic coach, college student mentor and school Dean, community organizer, education advocate, and activist. Currently, Antwan serves on several community organizations, most notably, he is the President of the Birchwood Clearview Community Association, Treasurer for the Oxon Hill Civic Association, and Second Vice Chair for the Democratic Central Committee for Legislative District 26.
Antwan’s service is, undoubtedly supported by his loving wife, two sons, and close family members, whom he loves dearly. With a passion for supporting people and serving his community, Antwan’s desire is to produce quality service that encourages the community’s faith in trusting what needs to be done, will be done.
